The head and the rock.

The head and the rock.

On Friday Amber was pushing Wesley on the makeshift swing (actually a tether-ball hooked to a tree branch) in our backyard and it came apart sending him, to quote Wesley, “like a bow and arrow” onto a large rock in the flower bed. He ended up with a gash on the back of his head. It wasn’t too large and Amber was able to control the bleeding in a few minutes, but it was deep enough to see the fat layer, so stitches were called for.

The Rock!

After a bunch of calls we ended up at the doctor’s office. The urgent care clinics around here wouldn’t take him because of his age and the emergency room was probably going to be both slow and expensive given our current insurance. The doctor managed to fit us in and get Wesley taken care of, but it took two hours all told. Wesley did great. For a kid terrified of getting shots he is the bravest thing you’ve ever seen when it comes to getting stitches. He’s terrified of it, but when it comes down to it he holds perfectly still.

As you can see he is doing fine now.  He really liked the green wrap and the way it made his hair look.

Back in full slug collecting mode.

For those of you keeping score at home, that makes 7 stitches in all for Wesley. Jillian is going to have to step up her game if she is going to regain her crown for the most stitches/staples. I guess whoever breaks a bone first, wins.

I am trying to find pictures to make Jillian a cool duckie shirt.  Wesley has a penguin one – and she wants one too.  It is super cute.  Every time we check the mail she asks where her shirt is…  Once we get it, I’ll post a picture of her in it.

So when I was looking for pictures I found both of these pictures in her ducky glasses she got from Becca and Mat for her birthday.  She love them!  Inside the house she tends to wear them upside down – but in the car, the regular way.  And I even love that she is wearing the same shirt in both pictures.

This is my 5th Mother’s Day.  I remember 6 Mother’s Days ago I had dinner with all of our family to announce that I was pregnant with Wesley.  The time has flown by, but so slowly at the same time.

Being a mother to Wesley and Jillian is the most amazing job I will ever have.  I am grateful each and every day that I have such wonderful and brilliant children.

I hope that all the mothers I know get lots of hugs and kisses from their children – young children and old children.  :)

Yesterday Amber showed the kids how they could make recordings using her MP3 player. Unsurprisingly they really liked it. Here are two songs that I converted to video (so that Flickr would host them for me). The pictures are just recent shots of each of the kids.

Wesley sings “You Are The Best To My Heart”

This is Wesley’s favorite song. He made it up himself about his favorite stuffed animal Baby Penguin and he sings it all the time. (Mom, before you say it, “tippy, tippy, tap dance”).

MP3 for your listening pleasure: You are the best to my heart by Wesley 4.23.10

Jillian sings “Me Love You”

Currently Jillian is in the habit of telling me that she does not love me at night. She loves Amber at night because she likes it when Amber does bedtime stories. Here she is singing about it.
